Low-Coverage DNA Report

Genetic similarity inside low-coverage windows

This report compares markers from 13 predefined windows, centromeres and other low-coverage stretches, with broad reference populations. It is a statistical genetic similarity estimate for those windows, not a whole-genome result and not proof of genealogy, ethnicity, nationality, or identity.

Chapter I

Your results lens

Search and compare the reference populations represented in these low-coverage windows.

Threshold bands are reading aids. They are not confidence scores and do not establish direct descent.

Chapter II

Report explorer

Select a reference population in the ranked list or on the map to open the same dossier. Shading is a visual guide, not a border and not a claim about where family lived.

Loading map boundaries...

Map tiles are requested from the configured basemap provider. Your sample name, percentages, and genetic result payload are not sent with tile requests.

Chapter III

Windows analysed

The percentages above come from these fixed stretches, not from an average across the whole genome.

Chapter IV

Interpretation and methodology

Use these limits when you read the percentages. They describe similarity inside a smaller, harder-to-read slice of the genome.

Similarity, not lineage

Percentages describe statistical fit to reference populations. They are not shares inherited from named groups, and they do not establish descent or identity.

Thirteen fixed windows

The comparison uses centromeres and other low-coverage stretches on chromosomes 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 21, and 22.

Lower data density

These stretches are harder to read than the rest of a DNA file. Small percentages are tentative, and disagreement with a whole-genome estimate is expected.

A complement, not a replacement

This report sits beside a whole-genome similarity result. It is not a health test, and estimates may change if the reference data or method is updated.

How this report is produced
  1. The selected sample is limited to 13 predefined centromere and low-coverage windows.
  2. Markers inside those windows are compared with broad world reference populations.
  3. A statistical model estimates how the window markers fit those reference profiles.
  4. The fit is shown as percentages, a map, and the window coordinates on this page.
Common questions

Does this mean the DNA file failed a quality check? No. The windows are structurally hard to read in many files. This report is a deliberate look at those windows, not a warning about the rest of the file.

Will these results differ from a standard ancestry report? They can, and that is expected. This report uses fewer markers in a fixed set of windows.

Is this a health report? No. It does not predict disease and is not medical advice.
