What is a DNA Superkit?

Combining Your Genetic Data

A DNA Superkit is a merged file that combines genetic data from multiple DNA tests into one comprehensive file. If you've tested with more than one company—say 23andMe and AncestryDNA—each test captures different SNPs (genetic markers). By merging these files, you create a single file with significantly more data points.

Think of it like combining puzzle pieces: each DNA test gives you part of the picture, but a Superkit assembles them together for a more complete view of your genetic heritage.

Why does this matter?

More SNPs mean better matching on genealogy platforms, more accurate ancestry estimates, and deeper insights from analysis tools.

Why Create a Superkit?

Unlock the full potential of your genetic data with enhanced coverage and better results

Better Ancestry Analysis

More SNPs mean more data points for ancestry calculators. Get more detailed regional breakdowns and higher confidence in your results on DNAGENICS and other platforms.

Find More Relatives

On GEDmatch and similar platforms, matching algorithms compare your SNPs to others. With more SNPs, you'll match with more people and get more reliable relationship predictions.

Enhanced Ancient DNA Matching

Services like MyTrueAncestry compare your DNA to ancient samples. A Superkit with more coverage means more overlap with ancient genomes and deeper historical connections.

Comprehensive Trait Insights

Analysis tools report on more variants when you have more data. A merged file gives you a more complete picture of your genetic traits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about DNA Superkits

How many files can I merge?

You can merge between 2 and 5 RAW DNA files from different testing companies. The files should be from the same person—merging different people's DNA is not supported and would produce meaningless results. For best results, include files from companies that test different SNP panels, such as combining 23andMe with AncestryDNA.

What if there are conflicts between files?

When the same SNP has different values in different files (which can happen due to genotyping errors or no-calls), our algorithm applies quality-based resolution. We prioritize calls with higher confidence and use consensus when possible. Most conflicts are rare (typically less than 1%) and have minimal impact on overall results.

How many more SNPs will my Superkit have?

The increase depends on which companies you're merging. For example, combining a 23andMe v5 file (~640,000 SNPs) with an AncestryDNA file (~700,000 SNPs) typically results in a Superkit with over 900,000 unique SNPs—roughly 30-50% more than either file alone. Adding a third file can push coverage even higher.

Which platforms accept merged Superkits?

Superkits work great with GEDmatch (including Genesis), MyTrueAncestry, DNAGENICS, Promethease, Genvue, DNA.Land, and most third-party analysis tools that accept RAW DNA uploads. Note that some platforms like 23andMe, AncestryDNA, and MyHeritage only accept their own original test results and won't accept uploaded files.

How long does processing take?

Most Superkits are completed within 72 hours. The Starter Pack option includes priority processing for faster turnaround. You'll receive an email notification when your merged file is ready to download from your private account.
