Nahua peoples
Nahua / Nāhuah
Nahua peoples include many distinct communities across central and eastern Mexico and beyond. Shared Nahuatl language relationships and historical experiences coexist with local governments, self-designations, land regimes, and cultural practices; Cuetzalan is a regional community orientation point only.
Geografía histórica, organización y continuidad cultural
Territorios históricos de origen y redes regionales
Nahua-speaking communities have long occupied diverse highland, valley, Gulf, and Sierra regions. Migration histories and changing political centers cannot be reduced to the Mexica capital or a single mapped territory.
Gobernanza y organización política
Nahua communities participate in varied municipal, communal-land, customary, state, and federal arrangements. No historical altepetl, modern organization, or municipality governs all Nahua peoples.
Instituciones contemporáneas y contexto identitario
Nahua communities sustain local governments, agriculture, ritual calendars, arts, education, broadcasting, and language work in rural and urban settings. Language use, census identity, and community belonging remain distinct measures.
Nahua is not a single present-day government, dialect, or ethnicity with fixed boundaries.
INALI's linguistic catalogue documents variation without turning language groupings into governments.
The point is neither a capital nor the extent of Nahua presence.
