Celtiberian peoples
Communities using Celtiberian language and identities
Celtiberian-speaking peoples occupied parts of inland northeastern and central Iberia. Inscriptions and coin legends provide direct language evidence, while Numantia and the Roman wars dominate later literary memory and must not stand for every community or century.
Geografia histórica, organização política e história posterior
Geografia histórica
The strongest Celtiberian language evidence comes from inland districts around the upper Ebro and central Iberian ranges. The distribution of inscriptions and coins is uneven and cannot be converted into a hard ethnic frontier.
Organização política
Celtiberian communities included towns, councils, magistrates, kin groups, and changing coalitions. Numantia was a significant community, not a permanent capital of all Celtiberian-speaking peoples.
Transição da época romana e legado posterior
Roman rule reorganized towns, law, military service, and language over several generations. Celtiberian writing disappeared, but place-based heritage and archaeological research continue without implying unchanged descent.
Texts support a Celtic-language classification while leaving many questions of identity and pronunciation unresolved.
The term Celtiberian must not be turned into a single kingdom centered permanently on Numantia.
Claims about heroic behavior, totals, and collective motives require comparison with archaeology.

Família linguística: Continental Celtic, Palaeohispanic languages, and Latin
Celtiberian was written in adapted Palaeohispanic scripts and, later, the Latin alphabet.
Coins can name issuing communities and authorities, but their circulation exceeds political borders.
Roman narratives of resistance privilege warfare; settlement and epigraphic evidence recover a broader social history.
Material styles and language evidence can show contact, practice, and change, but they do not by themselves prove a single ethnic identity. Greek and Roman descriptions are identified as testimony from interested authors.
