Abstract
Summary of the research findings
This open‑access study integrates paleogenomic data, stable isotope (δ13C and δ15N) dietary analysis, and osteological assessment on 33 individuals (3rd–5th centuries CE) from the Hvar–Radošević burial site (island of Hvar, Dalmatia). Results show a largely homogeneous local population with several genetic outliers suggestive of wider Mediterranean connections, diets dominated by C3 terrestrial resources with little marine intake, and indicators of high childhood mortality and physiological stress. No clear kinship- or diet-based differences were found between individuals buried inside the sealed tomb and those interred nearby, suggesting limited evidence for differential burial treatment within this assemblage.
